Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion have an important function as they distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to fellow parishioners. As official and highly visible participants in the celebration of Mass, they are expected to set good example for the community by their active participation. They must be in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church and should be motivated by their desire to share with others their own devotion and reverence for this holy sacrament.

In addition to serving at the Sunday liturgy, these ministers take the Eucharist to the homebound, the infirm, and those unable to attend Mass. They also visit senior health facilities within the parish.

Training is coordinated by the Pastor and is followed by commissioning by the Bishop. Ministers generally serve a six year term. Although chosen by the pastor, those interested should inform the pastoral staff or another Extraordinary Minister.
