Readers Schedule
|
Readers proclaim God's Word to the assembly and are a vital part of the Liturgy of the Word.
The task of the reader is to make God, through his Word, present to the community. God speaks through the reader,
proclaiming the Word as communicated through the individuals who composed the scriptures.
When the Word is proclamed in the assembly, it challenges, comforts, encourages, and admonished:
it is the task of the reader to convey this - not just to read words on a page.
When reading scriptures, the reader should communicate with dignity and restraint.
Phrasing, pauses, and pronunciation of difficult words should be rehearsed.
Enunciation should be clear and proclamation should suit the task of delivering the
majestic Word of God and capturing the congregation's attention. |
